Well it started late 2024. I was looking for a roomate and she seemed nice enough at first. She had a job but was living out of her car. Honestly, that should've been a red flag.

She was late on paying rent. It was fine, at first. She was literally barely not homeless anymore and probably needed to buy some stuff. Understandable. She also promised to pay half of the deposit on the apartment. She very often had money for weed and alcohol, though.

I never got a cent towards the deposit, and she was late on rent the entirety of 2025. She was supposed to be paying half the rent and utilities, which amounted to about $800 per month. When March rolled around, I let her know she was $1800 dollars in the red. She had told me she was waiting on her income tax to drop so she could get a car, and I assume pay me back for the full rent burden I had been taking. I'm guessing her income tax finally hit around the 5th, because I came back from work that day and she and her cat were gone. All she left behind was her key, her mattress and bed frame, and cat litter on the floor. I guess not counting march she only owes me $1000.
